Cotton candy it's a favorite treat of kids - one that they can't get enough of! Why not surprise your youngsters with an extra special treat this summer - cotton candy served ice cream style! This recipe calls for cotton candy syrup - however - if you can't find any syrup - we'll show you how to make your own. Homemade cotton candy syrup works pretty well, however, it doesn't produce that perfect cotton candy flavor that a high quality store-bought syrup would. Be sure to dye your ice cream blue or pink and it will be sure to also have the look of cotton candy! So have fun and enjoy!

Cotton Candy Ice Cream RecipeNo eggs / Eggless
Prep Time: 8 minutes Ingredients:
1 cup milk
Homemade Cotton Candy Syrup Place sugar, light corn syrup, and water in a large saucepan. Heat over medium heat until temperature reaches 320 (not more, not less). Remove from heat and then let cool slightly - but don't let it harden. Pour into ice cream mixture slowly while stirring, until well blended. If cotton candy syrup hardens, you can heat the mixture to dissolve the syrup, but be sure to chill the mixture before processing.
Directions:
Pour milk into a large mixing bowl and stir in cotton candy syrup. Add whipping cream and vanilla extract and mix well. Stir in a couple drops of food coloring until you achieve the color you want. Pour into ice cream maker Mix about 25-30 minutes in the ice cream machine or according to manufacturer's instructions.

With eggs
Prep Time: 30 minutes Ingredients:
2 eggs
Homemade Cotton Candy Syrup Place sugar, corn syrup, and water in a large saucepan. Heat over medium heat until temperature reaches 320 (not more, not less). Remove from heat and then let cool slightly - but don't let it harden. Pour into ice cream mixture slowly while stirring, until well blended. If cotton candy syrup hardens, you can heat the mixture to dissolve the syrup, but be sure to chill the mixture before processing.
Directions:
In a bowl, beat eggs until they are light and fluffy. In a saucepan, heat milk and whipping cream until it just starts to bubble. Carefully and slowly, pour about 1/2 cup of this heated mixture over top of the beaten eggs. Stir until mixture is smooth. Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan and continue to heat over low heat until mixture begins to thicken and stick to the back of your spoon. Cool. Once cool, chill mixture in refridgerator for at least 2 hours. Stir in cotton candy syrup and vanilla extract. Add a couple drops of food coloring to achieve the intensity of color you prefer. Pour into your ice cream machine and churn about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions. Enjoy your cotton candy ice cream!
