Ice Cream Vans for SaleIce cream vans for sale. How do you know which to choose? Let us help you find a suitable ice cream van.
If you are looking to start a business but lack major capital or do not want to risk everything, one comparatively low cost start up is an ice cream van business.
For little more than the cost of a reasonably priced used van, a freezer, and an eye-catching paint job, you can be operating your brand new business in no time. But just like with any business venture, an ice cream van business requires some careful planning and detailed research.
Selecting a Van
Of course the most significant investment that you will make in the starting up of an ice cream business is the van. Naturally, there are several factors that must be considered when purchasing a vehicle.
What's the Plan?
First, what type of products will you be selling? Will you need a soft serve machine? Are you planning to offer only pre-packaged novelties?
If you intend to sell anything more than pre-packaged treats, you will be bound by more health and sanitation regulations, so be sure to thoroughly understand all applicable laws in order to achieve complete compliance from day one. Your ice cream van may need to have special features.
Shoppe on Wheels
The second major factor is arguably the most important, though can be easily overlooked in what would be a classic case of missing the forest for the trees.
In searching for an ice cream van, make sure that the vehicle you choose is first and foremost a road-worthy vehicle. A van with all the ice cream serving equipment is not going to make you any money if it cannot get out of the driveway.
If you are buying a used van, be sure to know and understand the vehicle's mileage and age, as well as a thorough accident history.
Apart from the vehicle itself, research the make, model, and model year of the van to check for sustained reliability ratings.
Of course never purchase any vehicle without first having a qualified mechanic thoroughly check it. The same principle would apply if you are leasing a van, though it is advised that you avoid any leasing company that would not handle all of the above issues for you.
If you choose to buy a used vehicle, follow two simple rules: keep your eyes open and be patient.
With careful vigilance and research, there is no reason that you will not be driving your new ice cream van in the near future.
