Mint Ice Cream Recipe

A mint ice cream recipe has always been a favorite for those who love all things minty – there’s something about this delicious natural flavor that really brings the ice cream to life.

While this ice cream is quite tasty on its own, it is also an ideal companion to almost any kind of chocolate sidekick. Try it with brownies, chocolate cookies, or chocolate syrup for a fantastic flavor combination. Any hot summer evening becomes a lot more pleasant when this extra-cool treat is part of it!

Mint Ice Cream Recipe

Philadelphia Style

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ice Cream Maker Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes
Makes: 1 1/2 quarts
Servings: Ten 1/2 cup servings

Ingredients:

1 cup milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon pure mint extract
2 cups heavy cream

Directions:

If you don’t have an ice cream maker, click here.

Mix milk, sugar, and mint extract with an electric mixer or whisk so that sugar dissolves in milk.

Add cream and stir.

Pour into your ice cream maker.

Mix until thick–about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Enjoy your mint ice cream!

Mint Ice Cream Recipe

Custard/Cream Style

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Chill Time: at least 3 hours
Ice Cream Maker Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes
Makes: 1 1/2 quarts
Servings: Ten 1/2 cup servings

Ingredients:

1 cup milk
2 cups heavy cream
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon pure mint extract
4 egg yolks

Directions:

If you don’t have an ice cream maker, click here.

Mix milk, cream, sugar, and mint extract in a saucepan over medium heat, heating until mixture just begins to boil.

In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks.

Pour hot cream mixture over beaten eggs, mixing well.

Return mixture to saucepan, cooking on medium-low heat until mixture thickens and begins to stick to the back of your spoon.

Remove from heat and chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

Pour chilled mixture into your ice cream maker.

Mix until thick about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Enjoy your mint ice cream!
