Ice Cream Ball
Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker

Play with an ice cream ball and end up with your own homemade ice cream? It’s fun and simple!

ice cream ball

How It Works

A mixture of rock salt and ice inside the ball creates a cold environment that surrounds the ice cream ingredients. As you play with the ball, the ice cream mixture inside the ball churns and freezes…creating a smooth, irresistible, frozen treat!

What You Do

  • Mix ice cream ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Fill the “Ice” side of the ball with ice and add 1/2 cup of rock salt (3/4 cup for the Mega ball). Fasten the lid tightly by hand.
  • Fill the “Ice Cream” side of the ball with the ice cream mixture (leave at least an inch of space for expansion). Fasten the lid tightly by hand.
  • Play! Shake! Pass! Roll! Just keep the ball moving for 10 minutes (15 minutes for the Mega ball).
  • Open the “Ice Cream” end of the ball with the plastic wrench and give the ice cream a stir with a plastic spoon. Close lid tightly.
  • Open the “Ice” end of the ball with the plastic wrench. Drain water. Add extra ice and up to 1/3 cup more rock salt. Close the lid tightly.
  • Play! Play! Play for 5-10 more minutes (15 minutes for the Mega ball).
  • Eat ice cream! After all…you played hard for it!

*It’s best not to kick or throw this ball, but you can bowl with it!
