This Pumpkin Ice Cream is the perfect homemade ice cream treat for autumn.

Pumpkin Ice Cream Recipe

If you’d like, you can spice it up and turn it into pumpkin pie ice cream.

It’s easy! I’ll show you how.

Variation: Turn This into Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Easily

This recipe is simple to turn into Pumpkin Pie ice cream.

Make the recipe as instructed.

The only ingredient you’ll need to add is graham crackers or pie crust – your choice.

Break the graham crackers/pie crust into pieces.

You’ll need 1/2 – 3/4 cup of broken pieces.

Then, during the last 5 minutes of mixing, just add the broken graham crackers/pie crust into the ice cream.

Churn for the remaining 5 minutes and you’re done and ready to enjoy!

Easy, peasy.

And, yet another wonderful ice cream option.

Don’t forget to serve with whipped cream.

Easy Pumpkin Ice Cream Recipe

Planning Ahead

If you can, chill your pumpkin puree before starting to make this ice cream.

If not, no worries. It will just take 3o minutes longer to allow it to chill in the fridge.

Using cold ingredients is one of the keys to a smooth, creamy ice cream.

The faster it freezes in your ice cream maker, the better the texture.

Serving Tip for Pumpkin Ice Cream

You can use this ice cream to make a frozen pumpkin pie.

Place ice cream in a cooled, baked pie crust.

Freeze.

To serve, top with whipped cream and cut.

Serve like pumpkin pie!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 3/4 cup pumpkin puree 1 (15 oz) can
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

Instructions
 

  • If you don't have an ice cream maker, click here.
  • In a large bowl, mix pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and spices together well.
  • Chill in fridge for at least 30 minutes (if your pumpkin puree was already cold, you can skip this step).
  • Stir in heavy whipping cream.
  • Pour into ice cream maker and mix about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Enjoy!
  • Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Recipe: If you'd like to turn this ice cream into Pumpkin Pie ice cream, just add 1/2 - 3/4 cup of broken graham crackers to the ice cream during the last 5 minutes of mixing.

Ingredients
  

Pumpkin

  • 1 3/4 cup pumpkin puree 1 (15 oz) can
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves

Ice Cream Base

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar divided
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

Instructions
 

  • If you don't have an ice cream maker, click here.

Pumpkin

  • In a large bowl, mix pumpkin puree and spices together well. Place in refrigerator.

Ice Cream Base

  • Beat egg yolks and 1/4 cup brown sugar together in a bowl.
  • In a large saucepan, heat heavy whipping cream and 1/2 cup brown sugar until it just begins to bubble.
  • Pour hot cream mixture over beaten eggs. Mix well.
  • Return to saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture begins to coat the back of your spoon.
  • Cool. Stir in pumpkin mixture.
  • Chill in fridge for at least 2 hours.
  • Pour into ice cream maker and mix about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Enjoy!
