I was a little hesitant about making this ice cream, because I'm not a big fan of Lemon Sorbet. However, I heard so many people rave about this ice cream - that I finally decided I just had to give it a try!

I definitely enjoyed it! This recipe produces an ice cream with a refreshing and invigorating flavor. It's the perfect perfect way to finish a classy dinner.

Serving Tip: Serve this fancy ice cream in a chilled glass dish. Top ice cream with curls of lemon peel for garnish.

Lemon Ice Cream Recipe

Philadelphia Style

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Ice Cream Maker Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes
Makes: 1 1/2 quarts
Servings: Ten 1/2 cup servings

Ingredients:

1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 tbsp freshly grated lemon peel (optional)

Directions:
If you don't have an ice cream maker, click here.

Whisk milk and sugar together (about 1-2 minutes) until sugar completely dissolves.

Stir in whipping cream, lemon juice, and grated lemon peel until well-blended.

Pour immediately into ice cream maker (do not chill in fridge or lemon juice may curdle the milk).

Mix about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions.

Lemon Custard Ice Cream Recipe

Custard Style

Prep Time: 25 minutes
Chill Time: 2 hours
Ice Cream Maker Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes
Makes: 1 1/2 quarts
Servings: Ten 1/2 cup servings

lemon custard ice cream recipe Ingredients:

2 tbsp grated lemon peel
1/2 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
Pinch of salt
1 cup milk
2 cups heavy cream

Directions:

Mix grated lemon peel and lemon juice together. Stir in sugar. Chill in fridge to enhance flavor.

Beat eggs with salt well.

Heat milk in saucepan until it just begins to boil.

Pour hot milk over beaten eggs; mix well.

Pour milk mixture back into saucepan.

Heat. Stir constantly until mixture begins to stick to the back of your spoon and becomes thick. Don't let it boil!

Chill for at least 2 hours.

Stir in lemon mixture and heavy cream.

Pour into your ice cream maker.

Mix about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions.
