Instructions
How to make ice cream without an ice cream maker.
Place milk, whipping cream, and sugar in a saucepan and heat until it just starts to bubble.
Turn off heat, add the fresh oregano leaves, and cover.
Steep oregano in the milk mixture for 3 hours.
Strain the oregano leaves from the milk mixture.
Reheat the strained milk mixture and bring it to a boil.
Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy.
Pour about 1/2 cup of the heated milk over the eggs, stir to combine, and then pour back into the saucepan.
Continue to heat on low until the mixture thickens and begins to stick to the back of your spoon.
Remove from heat and cool.
Place in fridge and chill until completely cooled – about 3 hours.
Pour chilled mixture into ice cream maker and allow it to churn about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.
To serve, scoop oregano ice cream into bowls and drizzle honey over top. Add fresh oregano leaves for garnish if desired.
