Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Recipe
Custard / Cream Style
This delicious homemade ice cream is easy to make and a perfect combination of vanilla and chocolate flavor.
Makes 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream.

Ingredients

heavy whipping cream
1 1/2
tsp
vanilla

chocolate chips
(or
4 oz chopped semi-sweet chocolate)
Instructions
If you don't have an ice cream maker, click here.
Heat milk in a saucepan over medium low heat until it just begins to simmer.
Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, whisk eggs for 1-2 minutes until they are light and fluffy.
Gradually, whisk in sugar, then whisk for 1 minute more.
Pour about half the heated milk on top of the beaten eggs and mix well.
Pour all the milk into the egg mixture and combine.
Return to saucepan and continue to heat until the mixture just begins to bubble and starts to stick to the back of your spoon. Do not boil.
Chill mixture for about 3-24 hours. The more thoroughly this is cooled, the more creamy the ice cream.
Into the cooled mixture, stir cream and vanilla until completely blended.
Pour this mixture into your ice cream maker.
Mix about 20-25 minutes or according to manufacturer’s directions.
Add chocolate to ice cream mixture and churn for 5 more minutes.
