Custard / Cream Stylewith eggsStrawberry ice cream is a traditional favorite. This recipe will make the freshest tasting ice cream you've ever tried.Makes 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream
Beat eggs with sugar until a smooth pale yellow color appears.
Heat milk until bubbles start to form, but do not boil.
Pour about half the milk over the egg mixture and stir well.
Mix the remaining heated milk into the eggs and return to saucepan.
Continue to heat the milk over medium heat until milk thickens and begins to stick to the back of your spoon.
Remove from heat and chill completely in fridge. This will take at least 3 hours - overnight, but the more thoroughly chilled the smoother the ice cream.
Drain strawberries. Add the strawberry juice to milk mixture and set the strawberries aside.
Add heavy cream and vanilla and stir.
Pour mixture into your ice cream maker.
Mix about 20-25 minutes.
Add about half the strawberries to ice cream mixture (use the other half as a fresh berry topping).
