Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe

Here's a chocolate ice cream recipe that's simple, but the results are great! I was actually surprised at how good it turned out!

Serving Tip: You can make your chocolate ice cream even more tantalizing by adding toppings or mix-ins.

Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Chill Time: 15 minutes and 30 minutes
Ice Cream Maker Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes
Makes: 1 1/2 quarts
Servings: Ten 1/2 cup servings

1 cup milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/3 cup bittersweet/semi-sweet chocolate
2 cups heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

Heat milk (stove or microwave) until it just begins to bubble.

Meanwhile, process chocolate in a food processor or blender until the chocolate is finely chopped.

Mix chocolate and sugar.

Combine hot milk and chocolate mixture and blend until chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.

Cool.

Once cool, stir in heavy cream and vanilla.

Chill for at least 30 minutes.

Pour mixture into your ice cream maker.

Mix in ice cream machine for 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions.

Servings: Eight 1/2 cup servings

Ingredients:

2 oz (1/3 cup) unsweetened chocolate
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

In a double boiler, melt unsweetened chocolate.

Add cocoa powder, stirring constantly until smooth.

Using a whisk, stir in milk until smooth and blended.

Remove from heat and cool completely.

Meanwhile, whisk eggs for 1-2 minutes or until light and fluffy.

Gradually stir in sugar and whisk for 1 additional minute.

Blend heavy cream and vanilla into egg mixture.

Stir in cooled chocolate mixture.

Chill for 1-2 hours until cold.

Pour into your ice cream maker.

Mix in ice cream machine for 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions.
