Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Recipe

You only need a few simple ingredients to mix up a batch of tasty ice cream with chocolate chips. When you need a tried-and-true favorite, chocolate chip is the way to go; there's something about its unique texture that perfectly complements its combination of vanilla and chocolate flavors. Of course, the higher quality chocolate chips you use, the more incredible your ice cream will be.

Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Recipe

Philadelphia Style

Prep Time: 7 minutes
Ice Cream Maker Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes
Makes: 1 1/2 quarts
Servings: Ten 1/2 cup servings

Ingredients:

1 cup milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 1/2 - 2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup chocolate chips or 4 oz chopped semi-sweet chocolate

Directions:
If you don't have an ice cream maker, click here.

Mix milk and sugar with a wire whisk or hand mixer (low speed for 1-2 minutes) in a medium bowl until sugar dissolves.

Gently stir in heavy cream and vanilla.

Pour mixture into your ice cream maker.

Mix about 20-25 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions.

Add chocolate to ice cream mixture.

Churn for an additional 5 minutes.

Enjoy your tasty treat!

Custard/Cream Style

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Chill Time: at least 3 hours
Ice Cream Maker Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes
Makes: 1 1/2 quarts
Servings: xTen 1/2 cup servings

Ingredients:

2 large eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup milk 2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 - 2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup chocolate chips or 4 oz chopped semi-sweet chocolate

Directions:
If you don't have an ice cream maker, click here.

Whisk eggs for 1-2 minutes until they are light and fluffy.

Gradually, whisk in sugar, then whisk for 1 minute more.

Add milk, cream and vanilla, stirring until completely blended.

Pour this mixture into your ice cream maker.

Mix about 20-25 minutes or according to manufacturer's directions.

Add chocolate to ice cream mixture and churn for 5 more minutes.
